Chapter 8:
Creating a Custom Theme
Plone's default look and feel is best described as functional. It
has evolved over several years to facilitate a wide range of
features and user interface metaphors. If Plone is being deployed as
an internal content management solution, it is probably a good
choice. However, custom branding is normally required for
public-facing systems such as the Optilux website.
In this chapter, we will demonstrate how to create a new theme for
Plone. We will add a new style sheet to change the visual appearance
of various parts of the Plone site, change the default page layout,
and customize a few templates to provide alternative markup where
necessary.
